Clove

(Syzygium aromaticum)

Clove tree produces compact, branching cymes at the ends of its branches. The flowers have four thick, fleshy sepals, turning red as they mature, and four white petals, shaped like a nail. Harvesting the flower buds before they bloom yields clove bud essential oil, while the floral pedicels also produce a form of essential oil.

Clove bud essential oil is particularly valuable for preventing and treating necrosis on the skin and mucous membranes, making it a powerful tool against ulcers and infections. It is an active ingredient in our Headache Relief Roll On, After Bite Roll On and Menstrual Pain Relief Oil that absorbs excess grease where it acts an analgesic and anti-infective.

Native to the Maluku Islands, the clove tree is a striking, evergreen tree that grows in a pyramidal shape, reaching heights of 10-15 meters. It thrives in Indonesia, Madagascar, and Zanzibar, preferring warm, humid climates with low altitudes and well-drained sand or clay soils.
